Sarsuna college was established on 11th October in the year 1999. This West Bengal Government Aided college was initially started in the Sarsuna School premises. Later it was shifted to the newly constructed building in Sarsuna Upanagari. The college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and is approved by UGC. Sarsuna College is also accredited by NAAC with Grade B in the year 2016. The building of the college is four storied, consisting of classrooms, laboratories, Library, Seminar Hall etc. The total area of this college is 1.606 acre out of which constructed area is 6503 square meter. This co-educational college was initially a regular Under Graduate college having the streams Arts, Science and Commerce. In the year 2014, regular Post Graduate courses in Computer Science and Geography was introduced under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta. Sarsuna College was the first college to get Calcutta University affiliation for the regular Post Graduate course in Computer Science. In the same year, few Post Graduate Courses in different subjects was introduced in this college as distance education study centre under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University. Sarsuna College also offers few professional courses such as GIS and Remote Sensing Courses. Currently, there are more than 4000 students pursuing different courses in this college. The classrooms and laboratories of this college are modern and well equipped with instruments which attracts foreign students too. The results of the college in the University examinations are considerably good. In every year, there are few University rank holders from different departments such as Zoology, Microbiology etc. Sarsuna College was awarded by the Department of Women & Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, for successful implementation of “Kanyasree” in the year 2017. Sarsuna College is a rapidly growing college and few new courses will be opened in near future.
