Library of Sarsuna College started in 1999 with only 86 books and now it is a rich
collection of 30,550 books of different subjects and 250 bound volumes and 123 non
book materials. The central Library is well equipped with Reference books, Text
books, Journals, Periodicals and Newspapers.
The Library subscribes
about 2500 online Journals through INFLIBNET.
Both open and closed
access systems have been maintained simultaneously in the Library.
A computerized Bibliographical
database is in progress with the help of Library Management Software KOHA (version
3.16.04) on Ubuntu Platform.
All books are classified
by Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC).
7 Academic print Journals
and 2 Bengali and 2 English dailies are being subscribed regularly.
Students can borrow books
for study from the Central Library.
Faculties, Staff members
and students can consult the library within stipulated hours.
Career Guidance Section
has been running successfully from 2015 with 3 weekly career-related newspapers
and 4 magazines as well some career related books on general knowledge, current
affairs etc.
Library has Institutional
membership of American library, BCL and RMIC.
Library is under CCTV
surveillance.

General Rules
Library card is must
whenever you enter the library.
Maintain absolute silence
in the library.
Library cards are not
transferable.
All UG students are allowed
to take 2 books and PG students can take 3 books at a time for a period of 7 days
against their lending card.
Renewal is allowed for
only once depending upon the demand of the book.
Late submission fine
will charged in case of non-submission of the book in time. Maximum 2 books can
be issued at a time against a reading card for the purpose of study in the reading
room.
In case of loss or damage
of the book, the book is to be replaced with a new copy. Till then all library services
will remain suspended against that card.
In case of loss of library
card, Rs. 25 will be charged for issuance of new card. The student must report the
loss of the card in writing as soon as possible.
A student should take
proper care so that Reference copy of Dictionary, Text Books and Newspapers are
not misplaced in the reading room. Personal books, copies, notebooks, study materials
could be carried inside the library only after getting permission from the librarian.
A student would fill
up requisition slip only by himself/herself.
Food or drinking stuff
are not allowed inside the library.
Any violation of norms
may lead to forfeiture of the library cards for entire year or semester.
